Electric, glittering and nostalgic are the best words to describe Saturday Knight Fever, the 2014 Regis Auction. On April 5, more than 350 members of the Regis family, friends and supporters came out in full swing to celebrate and salute Dr. Taylor’s nine years of service and to raise funds for their beloved school at the Westin Memorial City Hotel. Chaired by Javier and Jennifer Fuentes, it was a festive evening sure to dance its way to one of the most treasured memories in Regis’ history. Thanks to the unwavering support and overwhelming generosity of our parents, Board members, faculty and staff, alumni, and friends, Saturday Knight Fever raised $555,000. “Ain’t no mountain high enough” is so true for the 2014 Regis Auction Chairs, the Auction Committee, and all our benefactors. We are truly blessed!
Saturday Knight Fever offered a bouquet of fundraising opportunities for people with diverse tastes and interests. Come fly with me to a destination of your choice, cheer on your home team, The Houston Texans, like a V.I.P., and purchase a new LED marquee to showcase Regis accomplishments were among the top favorites of the evening. Thank you to Stephen Lewis, Houston’s most renowned volunteer auctioneer, for making the live auction entertaining and successful. We are grateful to our in-house experts, Steve Bass and Ryan Holder, for managing the Big Board with much excitement. The evening also proceeded smoothly thanks to the contribution of the Rotaract Club volunteers, a community service club for college students and young professionals.
As the night unfolded, many eyes were left moist as they watched a beautiful video tribute to Dr. Taylor orchestrated by Gary and Debbie Treese. The hall resounded with cheerful applause as the guests gave a standing ovation to Dr. Taylor for nine years of her selfless service, leadership and dedication to The Regis School. Mr. Dennis Phillips, the incoming Head of Regis and his wife Mrs. Lisa Buckley joined in the celebrations. Father Patrick Fulton, Principal of St. Thomas High School offered grace before dinner. We were also honored to be joined by Father Brendan Cahill, Director, Archdiocese of Galveston Houston, Father Chuck Hough, Rector of Our Lady of Walsingham, Father Daniel Lahart, President Strake Jesuit Preparatory High School, Rev. James Murphy, Chaplain, St. Thomas High School, and Father Ronald Schwenzer, retired President of St. Thomas High School.
Eclipse Band and Orchestra provided foot-tapping music to transport all revelers back to the energetic Disco era of the 1970s. It sure was night of Stayin’ alive!
Team Saturday Knight Fever you worked tirelessly day after day to make this gala successful and memorable. Thank you for everything!
