Regis Knights Win St. Peter Tournament

The Regis School’s Varsity Basketball Team can add another conquest to its long list of victories this year. The young men battled in competition to become the new reigning champions of the St. Peter Basketball Tournament on Saturday, January 26. After a grueling tournament with over 20 teams participating, Coach Rodney Villadiego led the Knights to a 51-39 victory over St. Cecilia in the final game of the tournament. Regis eighth-grader, Tres Guidry, received MVP for the tournament. Two All-Tournament Team players were named from The Regis School – eighth-graders José Chapa and Tres Guidry. “It’s great to add another win to the season, especially one this big,” said Athletic Director Gary Holub, “but the most important thing is that we are constantly improving and winning as a team.” With the tournament victory in hand, the varsity hopes that its winning streak will continue in a powerhouse season record of 28 wins and only two losses.
