Sacred Heart Educators Gather for 2025 Symposium in New Orleans

From September 21–24, 2025, educators from across the Sacred Heart Network came together in New Orleans for the inaugural Sacred Heart Educators Symposium.

Centered on the theme “Seeking Truth & Understanding Humanity,” this year’s Symposium drew participants from local and global communities, highlighting the transformative work of educators in Sacred Heart schools. The international gathering was designed to foster learning, collaboration, and reflection on the mission of Sacred Heart education.

The event featured 54 breakout sessions across multiple disciplines, led by more than 80 Sacred Heart educators, RSCJ, and mission partners. Attendees also engaged in community-based activities, discipline-specific meetings, and networking opportunities with vendors and organizations dedicated to education. Throughout the conference, participants explored emerging trends, shared best practices, and connected with colleagues from around the world.

The Symposium celebrates the belief that Sacred Heart educators model the Goals & Criteria in their daily interactions, providing profound examples for students and carrying forward the legacy of St. Madeleine Sophie Barat.

The love for all our students was present in all our conversations.” – Sarah Allison, Director of Learning Support Services

“The Symposium sessions I attended not only affirmed many of the programs and ideas we have already put into place at Regis but also broadened my perspective on how other schools are bringing similar initiatives to life. I am inspired and excited to continue this important work!” – Katie Anderson, Counselor

It was a privilege to represent Regis at the Symposium and share some of the work our Middle School students are doing. We connected with our colleagues at the other all-boys' schools. The keynote addresses and breakout sessions provided much inspiration and many ideas. I'm looking forward to the next Summit where our students can be part of the presentation about what they are working on.”  – Christine Broadston, Middle School Social Studies Teacher

As a new Sacred Heart educator, I wasn’t sure what to expect at the Symposium, but I left with a better understanding of the mission. I acquired new ideas for my classroom, along with connecting with other Fourth Grade teachers across the network.” -Peggy Gioacchini, Fourth Grade Teacher

“The Symposium was a wonderful experience. Connecting with other Sacred Heart teachers provides new ideas, a recommitment to our mission and goals, and a validation of Regis' strengths and gifts.” – Sharon Held, Middle School English & Language Arts Teacher

“Every session we attended allowed me to grow as a teacher, connect with other educators across the Sacred Heart Network and to begin planting the seeds of future programs I hope to bring to Regis students.” -Kaitlin Holy, Libarian

“Attending the Sacred Heart Symposium was truly a wonderful experience…this time not only reaffirmed the educational mission we are providing to our boys, but it also reaffirmed my decision to choose a Sacred Heart education for my two sons.” -Megan Kilbride, Kindergarten Teacher

“Personally, the Symposium was such a wonderful experience for me to spend time with other Sacred Heart educators and leaders. It reaffirmed my commitment and dedication as a Sacred Heart educator and reminded me of how important the five Sacred Heart Goals are to the spiritual development of our boys.” – Judy Miller, Fourth Grade Teacher
