Early Childhood at Regis

The Regis curriculum is thoughtful, responsive, deliberate and custom. Our unique boy-centered curriculum allows teachers the latitude to choose learning experiences that are specific to boys. From the selection of topics, projects and classroom materials to the arrangement of classroom furniture to the pedagogy, faculty create an environment where The Regis Experience thrives.

At Regis, students in all divisions benefit from a small class size and better access to teachers.

Every Early Childhood classroom has a full-time teacher and a full-time assistant, allowing boys to receive the individualized attention they need during these formative years.

In Lower School, Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade classrooms have a full-time teaching assistant per class.

The Middle School maintains the benefit of small classes, enhancing faculty interaction and positive learning outcomes.

Regis Early Childhood & Lower School students have P.E. daily. In addition to this, boys have the opportunity to participate in morning recess before the school day begins and have a break and recess incorporated into their daily schedule as well. 

With block scheduling in Middle School at Regis, students have strategically planned breaks for movement, never having more than two classes in a row. Morning recess before school starts the day out with an opportunity to get the body moving before the mind and spirit are engaged. After the first two classes of the day, students attend Advisory, then have a break to grab a snack, get in a game of soccer on the field, or throw around a football or frisbee. The next block of two classes ends with lunch and recess, then just one more block of two classes before the end of the school day. Also, Middle School students attend P.E. six out of the eight days on their schedule. P.E. is for a full class period.

Movement is not confined to the outdoors at Regis. In the spirit of Goal V, boys are encouraged to move within the classroom as an aid to their learning experience. Classroom instruction is designed for this freedom of movement, whether it be working in small groups, rearranging classroom furniture to best suit the lesson at hand or participating in lessons while sitting on the floor or in flexible seating.

The MakerSpace experience in Early Childhood is an extension of classroom learning, themes, and social development. MakerSpace promotes curiosity, engages the boys in problem solving activities and allows for experiences to nurture creativity.

Lower School MakerSpace and Technology introduces students to the Engineering Design Process to plan, create, test, and improve projects. Technology implemented in the class exposes Lower School students to a variety of uses and ways to apply and showcase their learning.

Middle School Technology focuses on developing practical technology skills that are applicable to all areas of a student's education.
