Lower School Students during Technology Classes - Regis of the Sacred Heart

Lower School MakerSpace and Technology introduces students to the Engineering Design Process to plan, create, test and improve projects.

MakerSpace and Technology integrates topics and unites from the classroom curriculum into the MakerSpace experience, allowing for deeper learning and subject integration. Many projects aim to target real-life situations that enhance problem solving and confidence in students.

Technology implemented in the class exposes Lower School students to a variety of uses and ways to apply and showcase their learning. Students work through vertically-aligned coding programs at each grade level, learn proper keyboarding techniques using the Keyboarding Without Tears program and are introduced to Windows and the Microsoft Office Suite. Additionally, Lower School students learn to use various forms of technology in order to communicate their learning such as:

  • Stop Motion Animation
  • Green Screen Technology
  • Multimedia Presentations
  • Internet research
  • Cyber safety
  • Design Thinking
