At-Home Learning Option

What is "At-Home Learning"

This model of learning is an option for families to participate in after the conclusion of Remote Learning. This model is an option for families who do not feel comfortable sending their students to campus to participate in the “in-person” Regis program outlined in our Re-Opening Guide. This option will also go into effect when/if a student must quarantine at home because a member of the household has tested positive for COVID-19.

How is this different than Remote Learning?

Remote Learning is a model in which all students in a cohort, grade, division or entire school are participating in distance learning. As all students of a particular group are engaged in this type of distance learning, all of their teachers will be engaged in this as well, treating them as they were a normal class within the bounds of virtual meetings. 

In “At-Home Learning”, individual students choose to stay home, apart from their cohort and grade, and receive the Regis curriculum at home. As the teaching faculty will continue to have their normally scheduled classes to tend to, teacher interaction is more minimized in an “At-Home Learning” model than in Remote Learning. This is not by design, but rather out of the limited resources of a school the size of Regis. 

What Can I Expect if I Opt In to "At-Home Learning"?

The following methods will be employed to offer the best possible experience for students opting into the At-Home Learning Option. 

Lesson Delivery

• The portion of your student’s classes that involve the teacher delivering a lesson will be recorded during her lesson to the class.
• Teachers will meet with students via zoom in the event that more individualized assistance is required.* 

*As teachers will be teaching their full load of classes on campus, teacher may have varying levels of availability. The Coordinator, mentioned below, will assist in finding a time for students to meet with the teachers. 

Assignments

• Your student will continue to be expected to keep up with the work from the class.
• They will submit assignments or projects to their teacher, which have a 1-day grace period from the due date of the rest of the class, as students choosing this model will be one day behind essentially.

Assessment

• Your student will continue to be assessed for learning. 
• When possible, digital versions of assessments will be created. 
• Assessments may be modified from the in-class assessment to be compatible with this model.
• As determined by the teacher, it will sometimes be necessary to have a zoom meeting with the teacher to be assessed orally and “in person.”

Coordination

• Each student choosing to opt into At-Home Learning will have a parent/teacher conference to help assist the student in creating and maintaining a plan for success while they participate in the Regis Experience from home. 
• These At-Home Learning students will meet weekly via zoom with one of their teachers for a check-in.

Each student choosing to opt into At-Home Learning, will be assigned a faculty member who will assist the student in creating, and maintaining a plan for success while they participate in the Regis Experience from home. They will have an initial meeting with the student, followed by weekly check-ins.
