Carpool Information

Carpool & Traffic Management

Traffic in the Regis parking lot is ONE WAY ONLY. At all times, vehicles enter the parking lot via the Antoine Street entrance only and proceed through the parking lot to drop off children at the walkway near the front door. Exit only via a right turn onto Westview Drive. As a courtesy to others, please park only in designated parking spaces, not in the driveway in front of or near the entrance. Please respect reserved parking and designated handicapped parking places for those who need them.

For the safety of everyone, parents must remain in their cars during drop off and pick up. Teachers will load and unload students from the passenger side of the vehicle.

For Morning drop-off (7:30-8:00 a.m.), families will be assigned to different carpool areas based on the age of their son(s). Early Childhood students are assigned to the Milestones front parking lot. Older siblings of Early Childhood students may be dropped off with their EC brother at Milestones as well. All other students will be assigned to Whispering Pines Drive.

Please note that traffic moves south from Shadyvilla Lane, staying on the right side and then turning left into the driveway. The Whispering Pines Drive gate will be locked at 7:55 a.m. and late arrivals must then enter through the Milestones front door accompanied by a parent to sign them in. Students arriving after 8:00 a.m. will be considered tardy.

At dismissal time, parents will be similarly assigned to either Whispering Pines Drive or to the Milestones front parking lot. Early Childhood students only are dismissed from the Milestones front parking lot. If an Early Childhood student has an older sibling, he will be walked over to Whispering Pines for carpool with his brother. If you arrive and it is not time for your son’s dismissal or your son is not ready, you must circle the block and come back.

To avoid traffic jams and for safety and good order, please observe the following:

  • For student safety, the entire school block is a “no cell phone” zone.
  • Parents must utilize the carpool line and will not be allowed to walk up to pick up students through the carpool door.
  • Parents must seatbelt their own children.
  • Carpool is not conference time. Please make arrangements to speak with teachers at an alternate time.
  • If you are a Lower School parent who accidentally arrives at 3:30 p.m. or after, please proceed to carpool via Woodvine, the designated Lower School carpool route. Merge in with the Middle School carpool line - do not cut. There is a grace period if you are running late.

Students may not be left alone in the parking lot area either before or after school. Regis does not assume responsibility for students brought to school prior to 7:30 a.m. (unless in the Morning Extended Day Program) or remaining on campus after 3:45 p.m. (unless in The Knight Shift Program). Teachers are on duty from 7:30 a.m. through 3:45 p.m. Students on campus at any other time will be sent to Morning Extended Day Program or The Knight Shift Program at their parents’ expense. Student supervision for children outside of the regular school day will be arranged and billed to the parents’ account.

Drop Off Schedule & Information

Before 7:30 a.m.

If you arrive before 7:30 a.m., your son will need to go to before school care. Drop off for all grades prior to 7:30 a.m. will be at the Milestones Building. Parents have the choice to pay $10 per day for The Sunrise Shift, or register for an entire semester through the parent portal. Do not drop off your son in the Whispering Pines carpool line before 7:30 a.m. and leave him there alone.

Between 7:30 a.m. - 7:55 a.m.

Early Childhood students and their sibling are dropped off in the Milestones Building carpool line.

Kindergarten through eighth grade students are dropped off in the Whispering Pines carpool line on the west side of the school. This carpool line closes at 7:55 a.m. Do not drop off your son in the Whispering Pines carpool line before 7:30 a.m. and leave him there alone. Students should not exit their vehicles until faculty or staff arrive to begin carpool. This is extremely unsafe and your son will not be in the care of anyone during this time.

After 7:55 a.m.

Students arriving at 7:55 a.m. or after will need to be dropped off in the Milestones Building carpool line regardless of grade.

After 8:15 a.m.

Students arriving after 8:15 a.m. must have a parent sign them in with the receptionist in the Milestones Building. This means parents will need to park and walk their son(s) in.

Carpool Tips

CARPOOL SIGNS

Each family will receive two (2) copies of color-coded carpool signs. These signs will be distributed either at orientation or on the first day of school. If you need extra copies, please contact the front desk. Place these signs in the front windshield of your car upon entering the carpool line for pick up. Please keep the signs displayed until your son reaches your vehicle for safety and identification purposes.

CARPOOL ETIQUETTE

You may not enter the carpool line on Whispering Pines any earlier than your son's pick up time. This ensures a proper flow of traffic.

NO CELL PHONES

The carpool line is a no cell phone zone.

APPROVED PICK UP LIST

It is necessary for parents to email the homeroom teacher and copy Ms. Olivia Robles, Executive Assistant to the Head of School and Front Desk Manager, (orobles@theregisschool.org), and your son's Division Head if your son is going home with someone other than those on the approved pick up list.

If it is after 12:00 p.m., please follow the above procedure and then call the front desk too.

KEEP IT MOVING

Keep the line moving. Pull all the way forward in line. Carpool line is not a time to ask a faculty member lengthy questions.

CAR SEATS

Boys still in car seats cannot be buckled into the seats by faculty or staff due to liability issues.

LATE PICK UP

If the carpool line has ended before you arrive, your son will go to after school care. Please follow the instructions located in the Whispering Pines Carpool Line for The Knight Shift pick up.

Walker Policy

A walker is defined as a student arriving to or leaving the School without supervision. A Walker Release Form must be completed by a parent and will be kept on file. ALL walkers will be released at the 3:35 p.m. dismissal time and will be escorted to their assigned dismissal location. Please contact your son’s division head for a walker release form.

Biker Policy

A biker is defined as a student arriving to or leaving the School on a bicycle without supervision. A Biker Release Form must be completed by a parent and will be kept on file. All students biking to school must wear a helmet. It is recommended that bikers lock their bikes on the bike rack. Regis is not liable for stolen bikes. Please contact your son’s division head for a biker release form.
