As Regis Grandparents you play an important role in our school community. The love and care you express to your grandsons and children enable them to grow and thrive as Regis Scholars and Gentlemen and parents. The gifts of your love are a special part of our Regis mission.
For more information about Grandparent initiatives or to volunteer please email Tara Wuthrich, Director of Advancement.
In December, we offered our first Grandparent Retreat titled Praying with Hope as We Wait with Advent Anticipation. In March, we reflected and prepared for the celebrations of Easter with a virtual retreat titled Our Lenten Journey: Seeing with the Eyes of Hope. These retreats were led by Sr. Sharon Karam, RSCJ and Mr. Dennis Phillips, Head of School. We enjoyed a prayerful time together celebrating the liturgical seasons.
Virtual Classroom Visits 2020-21
We know how much Grandparents' Day means to our community! In place of our annual Grandparents' Day on Regis’ campus this year, we hosted grandparents in brief visits to your grandson’s classroom via Zoom. These virtual visits were joyous occasions to celebrate our love for our grandparents.
Grandparents' spirituality book Club
In the inaugural book club meeting in April 2021, Regis grandparents met and discussed How to Live: What the Rule of St. Benedict Teaches Us About Happiness, Meaning, and Community by Judith Valente, and considered how it applied to our daily lives. The conversation centered on how the Rule of St. Benedict and our Sacred Heart charism gives us a sense of hope and a way to live a happier life.
In October 2021, the book club will meet on campus to discuss Heartstorming: Creating a Place God Can Call Home by Robert J. Wick. As an added bonus, groups that gather will have the opportunity to observe their grandson's learning environment in action. Dates and registration information are forthcoming.
Seventh & eighth grade Career Chats
In Spring 2021, Regis grandparents shared their career experience with their grandson’s class! During scholars and gentlemen time, grandparents Zoomed in and led interactive explorations of the many career tracks available as your grandson and his classmates look forward to high school, college and beyond. The boys heard from inspiring engineers, ordained ministers, corporate executives and veterans. Thank you to all of our wonderful grandparents who participated.
