As Regis Grandparents you play an important role in our school community. The love and care you express to your grandsons and children enable them to grow and thrive as Regis Scholars and Gentlemen and parents. The gifts of your love are a special part of our Regis mission.
For more information about Grandparent initiatives or to volunteer please email Tara Wuthrich, Director of Advancement.
In December, we offered our first Grandparent Retreat titled Praying with Hope as We Wait with Advent Anticipation. In March, we reflected and prepared for the celebrations of Easter with a virtual titled Our Lenten Journey: Seeing with the Eyes of Hope. These retreats were led by Sr. Sharon Karam, RSCJ and Mr. Dennis Phillips, Head of School. We enjoyed a prayerful time together celebrating the liturgical seasons.
Virtual Classroom Visits 2020-21
We know how much Grandparents' Day means to our community! In place of our annual Grandparents' Day on Regis’ campus this year, we invite you to participate in brief visits to your grandson’s classroom via Zoom. Kindergarten, first and second grade visits have been a great success, and the remaining grades will be scheduled soon. We will reach out to you by email with the time and the zoom link.
Grandparents' spirituality book Club
Gather together as Regis grandparents and explore the topics of: prayer; understanding the ritual practices of the major world religions; Ignatian, Sacred Heart and Benedictine spirituality; caring for each other; and grief and pastoral counseling. The book club will meet in April 2021 to discuss How to Live: What the Rule of St. Benedict Teaches Us About Happiness, Meaning, and Community by Judith Valente, and consider how it can apply to our daily lives.
In October 2021 the book club will meet on campus to discuss Heartstorming: Creating a Place God Can Call Home by Robert J. Wick. As an added bonus, groups that gather will have the opportunity to observe their grandson's learning environment in action. Dates and registration information are forthcoming.
Seventh & eighth grade Career Chats
Share your career experience with your grandson’s class! During scholars and gentlemen time, Zoom in and lead an interactive exploration of the many career tracks available as your grandson and his classmates look forward to high school, college and beyond. Communication with sign-up information will be sent in February 2021 to all seventh and eighth grade grandparents.
